Make decisions before you’re ready

Your life is defined and shaped by the decisions you make — and the decisions made for you. If you haven’t given thought to how you make decisions, how you want to make decisions, then you’re not being intentional about shaping your life.
A key framework I’ve used for decision making is to conciously make decisions before you’re ready. Whether it’s the decision to get married, have kids, or change jobs — there’s rarely a moment of clarity. There’s no epiphany. But rather there’s the honed muscle to decide before you’re ready knowing the process of deciding is what will ultimately make you ready.
Visualize how you want your life to look and work backwards. Do you see yourself marrying the person you’re with? Do you see yourself wanting to start a company? Do you see yourself leaving your job?
Decide, communicate your decision (or make your move), and trust that making decisions before you’re ready is how you actually get ready.
